Saint Bride's Episcopal Church

One of Ireland's most beloved saints, Brigid (Bride) is known as the "Mary of the Gael." She lived in Ireland from ca. 450 to 525. She is most noted for her compassion to others, especially to victims of violence, the impoverished, and lepers. She is the patroness of babies, blacksmiths, cattle, children of unmarried parents, dairymaids,
fugitives, mariners, midwives, poets, scholars, travelers and printers.

Plaited crosses fashioned from rushes are associated with Brigid. Her iconography often depicts her with a cow lying at her feet, as well as with dandelions and bay leaves. Brigid’s feast day is February 1st.

Saint Brigid is considered one of Ireland’s patron saints along with Saint Patrick.
